In an increasingly digitalized world where mobile technologies are playing a fundamental role in society, the need to better understand how this transition improves our real world is increasing, and in this context, I am pleased to announce that FIG Commission 7 Annual Meeting for 2019 will be hosted by LX Korea in Seoul from August 5th to August 9th. The Annual Meeting will coincide with the ‘Smart Geospatial Expo’(Aug 7th – Aug 9th), a national event where the latest development in geoinformation will be presented.
The theme of this Annual Meeting is ‘Digital Twin, Smart Cities and Smart land Information’. Korea as a leading country in the development of advanced technologies across the geospatial industry, offers an opportunity to experience first hand on how the evolution of technology is changing land administration, particularly in the collection, processing and sharing of cadaster and land registration.
I have no doubt that the return of Commission 7 Annual Meeting in Seoul could not come at a better time when there is the need not only to share technological developments between countries but to expand knowledge sharing between the east and the west.
I am confident that the participants would benefit from the rich technical program and network developed by LX Korea and I would like to invite all of the members of the Commission and others to FIG in order to take this great opportunity to visit Korea. There are guaranteed opportunities to explore academic, commercial and inter-governmental relationships with Korean delegates and members from other countries.
